The institutions’ membership is a professional qualification where it enables you to gain the chartered status CEng and is the tool to register with FEANI and gain the Eur Ing title. It is considered to be the most credible membership/qualification and is well recognized worldwide.

Applying for the relevant membership category

Accredited Degree and Academic Assessment
Academic assessment is a procedure carried out by the institution to ensure that the applicant has fulfilled Educational Base requirements, i.e. appropriate Engineering Degree. The applicant has to demonstrate that he/she has gained a suitable academic standard and the institution will check non-UK degrees against UK standards. Please refer to the membership requirements above.
 
ICE
There is no necessity for the applicant to hold an accredited degree in order to become a member at any grade, but if the applicant's qualifications are not accredited with ICE, they will first need to apply for an Academic Assessment.
 
   
IET
Applicants need to demonstrate that they have university degree level education in an engineering subject.  At present IET checks non-UK degrees against UK standards.
 
   
IMechE
Accredited degree is required to become a member. If the applicant’s degree is not an accredited degree, he/she will be subjected to the IMechE Academic Assessment and will have to fill in self assessment form
